It seems that Lowe's Home Improvement is now in the firewood business. I see these little bundle of wood as for those that are going to have a fire in the fireplace for a romantic Valentine's Day evening with their special someone. Sitting on the sofa in front of the fireplace, sipping a glass of wine, while cuddling up to that special person in your life. I guess Lowe's thinks there are going to be a lot of that going on come February 14. No one that burns wood to heat their house pays these kinds of prices for firewood. Some of that wood is $2022.40 per cord and that is before tax. Usually I see a small stack of these bundles outside various shops in the area but this is the biggest pile I have seen anywhere.
Yes, as you can tell from the pallets, people have been buying some at this Lowe's. Before Christmas I watch a guy pick up a bundle at Ace Hardware; I figured it was for a Christmas fire.
There are people who will buy anything with the right advertising all the better for the firewood marketer
A good reason they sell is because there is no good place in the area to buy good local firewood at a reasonable cost. Look at a tag where that wood came from and more than not it came from a place far away. Gov't regs play a big role in what gets sold where. I sell a bunch of ambience wood and firepit wood to the "now" generation because I give them a good deal on good wood. If I was 20 okay 30 years younger I'd start a business selling wood to places like Lowe's and home depot.
If you look on one of the close up tags, it says it is from Georgia. I have thought about buying from some of the local firewood people; most are tree companies that does firewood on the side as well as mulch. I thought it would help me to get some headway on the three year plan that I am having issues doing. Mainly this year I didn't have a way to haul out of the woods and I still don't. Look like I will have to find a way to get up to northern New Jersey to pick up my parts.
What surprised me was the number of pallets Lowe's had. I probably wouldn't have even paid attention if just one pallet. They got these in sometime after New Year; I got sick and it took me awhile to venture back out.
No wonder I can't find any trees down here now...lol... Those are Northeast GA counties, beginning of the mountains. I lived in Hall Co for about 3 yrs, went to tech school in Habersham and worked in the others. Must be a big operation up there somewhere, to cut, kiln dry and bag all that.
If I was selling firewood in my area, the fire wood bundle market would be top of my list to market to. Im close to developments and lots of fire pits. Many types who dont think twice to pay $7.00 and up for a cup of latte, my SIL and her friends are prime examples.
Anyone ever sell attempt to sell bundles on facebook marketplace or cl? I have some seasoned bark-less firewood I separated that I would like to move somehow. I figured someone on here would know whether its worth the hassle of moving a few bundles around on either of these places.
for 6 or seven dollars are you going to drive across town to deliver 1 cf of firewood? Got to love the $25 rounds with a hole in the middle ( Swedish candle) at any rate this is what is called convenience items, spur of the moment. The pressed sawdust version is a new twist I hadn't seen before.

Contrary to what we believe....... not everyone owns a chainsaw not everyone has access to trees to cut not everyone has room to store/dry wood most should not own a chainsaw most should not try to cut down a tree for ALL of those people Lowes is providing a great service saving lives, providing atmosphere, and some heat
And those that are buying that wood can do so without making any significant impact on their money! I can't imagine a person (guy) with a 6 figure income, not grabbing a bundle to two on their way out of the store. Same ones spending 6-7 bucks for a cup of coffee daily instead of brewing their own?
