Anyone have any HL's laying around? I prefer an HL-46A, I know they came on the old blue Homelite WIZ's, probably my others too. Basically looking for an early HL that has the tensioned (spring) mixture screws on the side.... Even parts will work....
Myrtle Creek Saw Shop (Rich Dougan) might be able to help ya,he's got all kinds of vintage parts. 1-541-863-5387 shop Cell 1-541-643-1646
I rebuilt two different HL-22B's (that's what came on these Pioneer RA's originally), couldn't get it tuned on both the low and high end. I'd get the low end tuned and couldn't get the high end synced to it. So I'd tune it where the high end was correct and the low end wouldn't sync. I reconfigured the throttle and choke on an HL-46A off of an old Homelite ZIP and it's running perfect now. Great throttle response, works perfect. So I want to build another for my other RA......
One big problem with the 22B carbs is the fact that the low mixture screw doesn't have a tension spring, just an o-ring. That's how they come from the factory. And they won't hold a tune to save your arse....lol
Sweet! If you find ANY old HL's, let me see what you got. I may be able to work with different ones...
You could buy one of those springs at a hardware store Scotty, if that's all that's keeping you on a HL.
It needs a spring-specific needle. The needles in mine don't have a proper shaft/ridge for the spring.
Didn't get a chance yesterday to look, I only work half a day today, I'll dig through my stuff when I get home and see if I can find the carb...
Okay, what I have is an HL82A which should have been from a Homelite Buz 500, still complete, would surely need gone through, here's a pic of an NOS one listed on the bay...
