    Isocore ,
ask Buzz-sawBrad , the master of the maul.
I've seen it live , and was certainly impressed with what it can do.

I've had the GB for a couple years and split several cord with it. It's a nice tool that works well.

While I haven't personally used it, I've heard that the Husqvarna maul is a good value. Husqvarna Splitting Maul

My first maul was a eight pounder with a hickory handle (I was nine years old) that I used for many years. I then switched to a six pounder and liked it better, because you could swing it faster. Some years back I picked up a couple of the x27 Fiskars on clearance at a department store and really liked how they split. My son gave me an Iso core for Christmas in 2020 and it has proven to be a beast. I find myself bringing out all of them to use for different types of wood. The Iso core will do the tough splitting and the X27 is lighter and more controllable when you have better wood to split. I have been purchasing some of the Gransfors Bruks, Hults Bruks and Husqvarna axes, but no mauls yet. If you hike the design of the Hults, you should buy the Husqvarna, since Hults makes the Husqvarna and is sold at a cheaper price. Maybe that helps some.

Second that. If I had had one as a kid, I wouldn't have minded splitting wood:D

I often drool over the GFB tools I have a small forest axe. But for the splitting world I bought a Council Tools axe eye handled maul. I do go through a handle about once per season but I have a box of them in the shop so not a big deal to rehandle. I just love the wooden handled tools.

I would have to agree. A wooden handle has a certain look and feel to the tool in hand.

I've been using the GB maul I posted above for three years now, and I've had zero issues with the handle. Their overstrike guard is the best I've seen.

I have the GB maul and splitting axe. Love them both. But I also have the X27 which gets lots of use.

I added the Wilton BASH 8 pound to my lineup. I really like the handle, not sure how it's made. It has a rubbery anti-vibe feel to it, must be steel inside.

This GB maul is an early Christmas present to myself:
