I saw log tongs up close and personal at a gathering at Walts last month and they are great firewood tools.

I'm thinking of getting a couple, one at a time as finances allow. I see the come in a couple of different sizes, 18" and 20". I'm leaning toward the 20" size. Since I've never used them, what size do you kids recomend?

Husqvarna made two different pairs back when I got mine-- I got the big ones. Love them.

Lol. In all seriousness, log tongs look to be very very useful.

I have three Huskys one small and it's useless. With two large I can pick with out bending and stack without touching the wood. Two logs in one trip.

I bought the huskies like what walt has... They are really a nice tool to add to the arsenal.

Ralphie Boy if you have a set of oxy/acetylene tanks a torch and a scrap yard near you you could make a set yourself cheap and any size you want!

I have the large and small Wetterlings and the small Husqvarna , I use them almost every wood outing .
I've tried the Chinese ones , not worth a roll of pennies .

I have a set of the fiskars and husky. Both are their larger sizes which is nice. If memory serves me correct you will be cutting some larger wood. The lager husky ones will handle all I can lift for 2 logs, one in each hand. And as you know I am not a little guy.

I’ve got a pair of the timber claws, the thick rubber type with the hooks at each end. I use them every time I go out to cut wood. Saves my back, and also my arms from getting all scratched up. Very convenient and easy to get a hold of a couple of rounds and carry them like a pair of suitcases instead of in my arms and bending back and straining my lower back.

My log tongs were ordered online. I think they are 16inch. They save a lot of bending over and I need to order a second one. I have noticed that the bolts that hold them together are starting to bend a little. A green Red Oak maxed out their ability.
I wish I would have bought them sooner.

Bought a pair of these last year. They work great and no more bending over to pick up rounds into the trailer. I gave one to a fellow wood burner at work. I know you young guys use both at the same time but one at a time works for me at 62.

I concur with other that the 8" ones aren't very useful. I'm still partial to using a pair of pulp hooks.
