Installed a new air wash and secondary manifold gasket tonight along with a few new fire bricks. Not actually sure the gaskets do anything except drain my wallet. Both gaskets were non existent anymore. The glass has been staying pretty clean regardless and I guess I’ll see if the secondaries fire any better with the new manifold gasket. I did however discover some damage that is a bit concerning. There is a plate of steel welded into the firebox on top, I’m assuming for extra protection. Well, that thing has definitely gotten hot at some point, it’s sagging and deteriorating. This stove was pretty lightly used when in got it but for the last 8 years has done about 75% of my heating. Must of packed er too full of locust or oak one night! Anyways, maybe if I show the wife And tell her how “unsafe” this is I can get my new princess! We’ll see…

Pics of the warped side and the side that has yet to fail.

No legged model. Would be some major renovations to open up the fireplace to fit a free stander in there, but it is always a project I daydream of!
