... Said no farm boy ever. Broke out the 2071 Turbo and the Friskars isocore and Did some C/S/S on the wood pile today. Got a later start then I wanted to but Made a dent in it but still a long ways to go. When I started today there was no wood stacked there. You can't see them but there is wood pallets between the tposts. 16Ft long between posts.
I wouldn't touch those for about 2yrs now..Then....all of them would become All Nighters...One in at about 7pm..Damp it down to about 2 and wake up at 4am to a hot bed of coals..
Redneckchevy is that a taylor OWB? Seems to me I remember seeing a few of them while driving through your neck of the woods....
It is,. It's a Taylor 750. Got it used, the first year we bought our house, hualed it and installed my self.
I installed my first OWB in 93 if I remember correctly.....maybe a year or two earlier. Pretty steep learning curve there, no?
It is a learning curve, but it is very nice. Had to replace the water cerculation pump this winter but over all they are very low maintenance and nice
Oak with maple and I think some ash, I'm really bad at id'ing wood without the leaf to help haha. I do love splitting oak, splits really easy with the isocore, most only taking 1 to 2 swings.
My paths I have packed down good. We have well over a foot and 1/2 of snow on the ground, I tried taking the 4 wheeler out 2 weekends ago to cut a truckload in the woods and as soon as I turned off the path I just sunk, you can't make it more then 5 feet with a running start.
Didn't get a lot done on the wood pile today,. Had a family members truck not want to start Friday when he got done with work so I had to head there today with the trailer, ended up getting it running so it was a easy load at least, but killed most of the day. I did manage to get a little cut and split after I got home, will have to stack it tomorrow. Made a dent this weekend in the pile.
I fill it in the morning and at night, I'm hoping after I get that hole pile done it will last me tell I shut the boiler down late spring. I burn through about 10 full cords (4x4x8') a year, if I could get ahead so i had dryer wood I would prob burn less. But so far have not been able to.
How long between reloads? I’m fascinated with these burners sometimes as they do the work that most burners don’t do like with wet wood, it’s like a nice garbage burner only I’d be thinking about burning all the deadfall and blow down branches.
