Looks tastee...except for the “sugar” part... can’t. For a dyslexic moment, infinitesmally small as that moment may have been.... I thought you might be referring to some sort of exercise....
Good for you Adam but Lokshen kugel just does not do it for me. Now some nice pastrami, or corned beef.... excellent! I can even do gefilte fish with horseradish (mild fish, reminds me of shrimp in a left- handed way). But just never developed the kinship with kugel. Brian
Except the bread is noodles. And, there's cheese. Genius. I threatened my wife that I was gonna' make some.
Kugels are made in different ways: Lokshen kugel specifically uses egg noodles. Just the term Kugel and it implies potatoes are used instead of egg noodles. Some kugels also use pudding as the 'filler'. It is an interesting dish that is served hot, as part of a meal, or cold as an after meal 'snack' or quasi- dessert. Brian
Well you hooked me and I made a cinnamon kugel and took it to my family gathering....here's the result...."We're not Jewish!! (said as they dove for the chocolate/peanut butter buckeyes)...I was reminded to never introduce a new dish at an otherwise traditional feast...."kinda weird" (my boys never fail to amaze me)...and I ended up forgetting the whole practically uneaten panfull on my sister's dining room table when I left...she said she was going to patch the hole at the end of the driveway with the leftovers and I could get my pan next time in town. So all in all I should have made my pineapple upside down cake and opened a bottle of wine! Kugel? No thanks!
Oh yes I had the only glob other than my mother who said it was like bread pudding. I would have had more had I not left it behind....subconscious at work?
