Since my old analog moisture meter was giving me some funky readings, and I read a threads earlier about a cheapy at Menards I thought I would give it a go.
    The analog MM

Was at menards the other day ad they had those tool shop MM on sale with a rebate for 11% off so I grabbed 1.

Total cost will be about 9 bucks. Before going to the check out I did read the package. I takes 4- button batteries that are included with the MM and I looked at the price of the bats in case of replacement before making my purchase. The batteries are more than the cost of the MM. Cheaper to just chuck the whole thing when the bats go bad and buy a new unit, but after playing with it and knowing what I know about my wood splits I will have to say it is a nice little gadget for the money. I always used to just bang a split against my head to hear if it was dry but I was never quite sure if that hollow sound was coming from the split or my noggin.

Do they stimm have those giant pretzel at your Menards? I ate pounds of those things when I was a kid.

Don't know, never looked. I don't go there often since I am a contractor and I hate the wait to get materials. Nuthin I dis like worse when I'm busy is to hunt down a pimple faced kid to find a fork lift to load my truck. But that's another story all to itself.
