    Yep. Crush the leaves and smell them. It's a very distinct smell.

    Looks like it to me. It's ok firewood. I like to let the rounds sit a for a few months so the bark can be peeled off in big chunks.

    I hate those black walnuts. They are all over the far right of my back yard. They kill the surrounding grass. The squirrels bury them all over the yard. God forbid you step on a green one you will roll an ankle. Step on the walnut barefoot after it's dried out and its like stepping on a lego.

    Sure looks like it's black walnut. Take a small twig and cut it on a bias and see if the pith is chambered.
