Didn't see if the zoo charged extra for the longer ride.

My luck I’d be hanging over the lion cage or polar bears.

Years ago, I had to be evacuated from a ski lift. A squall rolled through and there was lightning in the area; yep, this was winter! Lifts have to be shut down when lightning is present. Luckily, it rolled through quickly.

To describe it simply, they throw a rope with a guide over the haul rope (cable the chairs are attached to). Attached to that, is something that looks like a t-bar. You sit on that, push yourself off the chair and they slowly let you down. It definitely felt strange pushing myself off that chair that was a good 40-50’ in the air.

My son and aunt went on this ride when we were visiting family in Central MA! He was pretty young—I hope he remembers! I decided to stay on the ground with my wheelchair-bound grandmother and toddler daughter.

Funky zoo BTW…much better than Boston’s Franklin Park Zoo.

Agreed! It's a decent zoo out in the woods/country. Nice place to take kids.

The four generations of my family had fun on that visit. The whole place had a great family-run feel to it. Back when my kids were younger, we never visited an area without going to the local zoo. This one had more personality than most.
