hi all. Im looking at buying a jotul 118. It has a 3 inch hairline crack in the bottom of one of the side panels. The person says it was only used five times. So my questions are.

    How much should I pay?

And is it a good stove?

    Thanks in advance

I am not a welding expert. I am sure Welder Dave will by soon and give you the straight and narrow on it. I think welding cast iron is not easy and takes some real skill.

Do you have a pic of the stove/crack?

I'd be curious what condition the rest the of the stove is in.

The crack is in the bottom left hand side panel in the middle pic. It starts in front of the horse and runs through the horses body and stops just above. It truly is a hairline crack

I'm curious too if you got this stove and if so what you did about the crack. While cast iron can certainly be welded, that stove appears to have a green porcelain enamel on it, which won't survive welding in the immediate area of the weld. I'd be curious too whether the crack is from physical damage or over-firing.
