Well that escalated quickly. Picking up my 3rd saw today, it’s a jonsenred 2186 aka a red 385xp. My first big CC saw and will be primarily used for milling. I really like the 3/8 low profile milling setups so the plan is a 36-42” 3/8 bar with a skiptooth 3/8 low profile milling chain. I have read all sorts of back and forth on arboristsite on whether you can use a 3/8 LP chain on standard 3/8 nose sprockets and rims. Finally just gave it a try with my 24” bar and it works great! The rim interface seems perfect to me but the nose sprocket does keep the chain a hair off the bar at the tip. Good thing I won’t be doing any plunge cuts.
