    this Cherry would be all rotten, just about 1/2 inch on the outside is rotten and the rest is good.

    I finally can get back in this area so I can grab more topped off Cherry.

    Does cherry rot fast? Unfortunately we don't have much here. I think ive counted only a few. Smells great though!

    No, it seems to last the longest of any downed wood I cut, I never dropped this before because it looked so rotten (it's close to the trail) so that's why I'm surprised.

    It starts going bad after about 2-3 years if not out of the elements. At least in my climate.

    It's very common around here, some years 75% of my stacks. It takes a while to rot, and even then it rots from the outside, the heart wood is still surprisingly solid. Great stuff.
