Is this good firewood?

    What kind of wood is this before i accept it? Sorry Im not good at judging what kind they are just yet Thanks!

    That looks like a beetle-killed ash tree. Good firewood.

    How do you know beetle killed? Im located in NJ as well not sure if that matters

    When the EAB infests an ash tree it will push off a bunch of water sprouts in the lower sections in an effort to survive. This is an ash tree with a lot of water sprouts.

    Get it man. That is Ash and it splits dry. Ash is one of my favorite firewood trees. Looks pretty manageable.

    Good wood, not sure about cutting EAB wood, i quit bringing ash home years ago.
    Anyone have an informed opinion?

    Should i be concerned about the EAB? The guy lives 4 miles away from me

    No i dont believe so. Theres a small piece of woods behind my house though

    If this tree was infected with EAB and it's only 4 miles from your house then they are already at your place.

    Yeah its a 4 mile drive but direct line, less then 2

    Eab bug only flies about a mile and a half.
