I often post with my Ipad, but my Ipad does this little nasty thing of auto correct where if you misuse or misspell a word, it will auto correct. The problem is that sometimes it puts in the wrong word and this can result in the sentence taking on a whole different meaning. I usually reread my post, then pick up on my errors and want to correct them. But I don't seem to see the edit option displayed anywhere once it has been responded to with a "like" etc.

Hmm can you do a screen shot for me ? It should be on the bottom left but that might be mods only I am not sure. Also if you go to your ipad settings you can turn off spell check under general - keyboard - auto correct.

It will only allow you to edit your post for a short while after making the post, I think once a "like" has been made that option goes away. PM me if you need a post edited my friend, I can do it for you (I think the mods are set up to do it too).

Yes I gave everyone that option (there is a menu in the software that we can choose to allow that or not), I figured why not. Everyone makes spelling mistakes, I have no problem letting you guys edit your posts or titles.....

Thanks Scott! I checked and the title edit times out as well. Which is fine with me at least I could fix my mistake without bothering a mod.

Scott, can we increase that time? Make it a couple days? Not everybody catches their uh-ohs right away... lol.

Great idea, 24-48 hours? (I'm a writer so it kills me when I see stoopid mistakes I've made, esp when posting with my iPhone and its demonic possessed spell checker/auto correct.)

Remind me this weekend....I've got to get to bed now, and I have a tree job the next two evenings to do......
But, I don't see a problem making it at least 24hrs....

I would make the editing open for about a week. Often times issues are raised and mistakes are pointed out only after several days. I see small mistakes in my posts all the time... sometimes big ones.

Even if the time period lapses, the option to have a mod fix something for you is always open.

I know this is an old thread but it's what I came up with in my search. I posted I a thread early this morning and when I went back to it a couple of hours later I saw I had a spelling mistake I wanted to correct. The EDIT feature was not there anymore. About 5 hours later. Any suggestions/ help? Thanks FS.

I believe 4 hours is the max.... as MasterMech posted above, and you did well to tag two mods, this is about the only option. Another mod attention grabbing option would be to tag “moderating” at large, by using the “@“ and “moderating”.... or establish a PM with a mod or mods. I regularly fix spelling errors, etc. for a few members that have PM’s going with me.
