Anybody have any recent experience shopping for a new grill? Any models loved or any models hated? I’m looking in the 3 burner size range. Doesn’t need a side burner. Doesn’t need a rotisserie burner. What advice can you share? Mike
Honestly I’m not the idea grill owner, they get left outside year round, I don’t cover it, I use the heck out of it so I haven’t gotten a lot of life out of them in the past. I felt like I was simply throwing money away on the expensive grills that I bought (Weber, broil-king) When I needed a new grill 3-4 years ago I went with one of the cheapest that Lowe’s had, a char-broil I think I paid $149 for it on sale. I have been pleasantly surprised with it. It appears to still be available as well, with lots of positive reviews. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have a Weber genesis gold. It's almost 20 years old. Other than the igniter not working anymore, it's been flawless
Just went looking last weekend... the Webers with the cast bodies were $$$$$$$$$ Settled on a Blackstone 22” griddle for $147 At Wally’s. Pretty well built, 95% assembled. Still trying to figure the seasoning process... But that’s for another thread.
Webber Good reviews, here and on line, priced at a local spot 20 bucks less the the Depot and another 50 below that if I bought it in the box. Ninja, the War Department and I enjoyed the shade of the garage and some tunes cobbling it together. Maiden voyage, Zucchini! Warming up now.
I have a 2 burner Weber for almost 15 years, only put it in the garage for Hurricane Irene, and Hurricane Sandy, other than that it’s left outside. I just replaced the flavor bars and ignitor last year. When I do upgrade to either a Rec Tec Bull or a Weber 4 burner. I Will most likely keep my 2 burner.
I have decided that if every bit of the actual hot part is not cast aluminum or stainless then it might as well be the cheapo from Walmart. I want stainless everything. If it cost twice as much but lasts twice as long then it’s a good deal. Even my portable grill is a Weber Q series and I love it to death. It cost way more than double but it also performs so much better than expected. Of course my pellet bbq is an Englander because they also make wood stoves!
My old Weber is still in use after I gave it away. It has to be 15+ years old. It was in the garage when I owned it and on an exposed deck (all 4 seasons in Maine) since I gave it away. Its not really maintained too well now but is has a grill cover and still works like a charm.
Weber, end of story. Their customer service is great too so sometimes even when things wear out they will replace them for free depending on what it is, but from what I gather it's always worth a call. I have heard of them replacing tops or other sections to their smokers that got rusty after 10 years for free. Personally I'm not one to take advantage of a company's good will like that however, it's just a testament to their customer service. I have that same Spirit grill but with a sear burner and side burner. I've since bought a new charcoal grill from their site so I don't know if I'll be using the gas again anytime soon, other than to help light my charcoal chimney with the side burner.
Same model that I have, Not a big fan of it though. Few years old and I think I need to replace the burners...Probably just buy a new grill altogether.
Weber grills are not made the same quality as they used to be. My next grill might be a Napoleon or other brand.
