Stihl 044 Magnum. This saw is all original. Even the bar. Hardly ever used. As close to new as you will get with a used saw. $500.00 firm. Please respond with phone number for a response. Thanks in advance.

I suspect the latter. It's not easy to find a pristine 044 to steal, even if one wanted to.

$500 is not exactly a deal of a lifetime for some of the above post. IMO its top dollar

This is what I was thinking!!!

I dont call that a deal really? Others may. A good saw yes and would rather pay this for this one than a brand new 441 but not that much of a steal?

Eh, I wouldn't call it either top dollar or a fantastic deal, but you rarely see one in such condition at any price.

I take it you haven't done much business in detroit?

One time my buddy asked me to accompany him to a craigslist deal, and to 'bring my long iron'. I tried to talk him out of it but he really wanted that car. I did not want to see him dead in a ditch.

He had me park on the other side of the lot with specific instructions to shoot the bastards if he gave me a prearranged signal.

Another friend had me go with him when he met a prospective buyer for his track bike. I parked down the block and if the 'buyer' got on the bike for a test ride around the lot I was to roll up and park in the exit of the lot. The 'buyer' was all hopped up to go for a 'test ride' until some random dude showed up in full race leathers on a bike putting down 50 more ponies than what he was on in his shorts t shirt and floppy floppies... Suddenly he wasn't so interested in a test ride any more. I do give him credit for realizing he would not be able to out run me after he jacked the bike.

Selling a bike does put the seller at a unique disadvantage...

I think it's a fair price for what it is... There's a decent looking 10mm on a different site, and the guy wanted $750 for it! :bug:
He dropped the price to $650. Still too much, IMO.

Hard times in Detroit and the surrounds. I'll bet the seller just wants to liquidate it ASAP. May be "hot" but that can be investigated quickly and easily. I'd buy it sight-unseen. That's a risk I'm O.K with.
