Totally. And I see the second pic says .60 cubic feet, and it looks like quite a bit more than the one I took a pic of that says .75 feet....

Yes the pic I posted is kiln dried and claims to be only 0.6 cubic ft. The pieces were very small. If the claimed volume is correct then it comes out to around $1500/cord!

Have you ever opened one of those boxes? It is strips and slab wood from a mill, not split wood.

I'd be happy to sell at that price. A cord around here hovers around $250 to $300, but in Boston I see it for $600 a cord plus delivery. They probably get it too.

A lot of the big box stores sells federal certified wood. Under their regulations it has to be dried , bundled and tagged. All that adds up. Don’t get me wrong, they are making money. I’m certified for Indiana, which requires it to be dried but it can be css for one year and that’s ok. It’s also supposed to be wrapped and labeled but very few do that. I try to follow the rules but it’s hard to compete when the others don’t. It takes time and money to wrap and label. Most have a small rack and sell that amount. My bundles are .80, I sell for 5$ each or 3 for 10$. I started doing this for my boys. Oldest one is 4. He is getting closer to doing it.

$1016/cord... maybe we could make a LITTLE PROFIT and stay in business... That's labor intensive having to wrap all those little bundles...ask buZZsaw BRAD ...I think he sells some bundles...we want to be like Brad...

Not knocking the sellers, more amused by what people will pay for a bit of firewood. The market is there for any one of us to tap into. These sellers made the effort to get their product on store shelves and I respect that.

I agree. Why knock the sellers? It is the buyers who are the idiots.
