Since i posted this. We have been running it. Runs good, blade tracks ok. But we did not have a log to run through it. I’m wondering if it a little over priced? Just considering options.

I haven’t priced New, but prices aside, what is the current availability of New?

I have to imagine that there are many times more new rear bumpers for a Jeep Wrangler sold than a portable mill, I ordered a new rear bumper for my Jeep in April, estimated delivery WAS May 13th, called the Manufacturer *(actually Importer Frown) yesterday, HOPEFULLY sometime in September, and that is no guarantee. The estimate just keeps slipping every month, and that 35 and wide wheel are heavier than I want on the tailgate carrier, but the other option is to not carry a spare, and I travel to much for work to do that, I had no idea that it would take MONTHS to get a bumper that the vendor Incorrectly showed as in stock

These days, something being AVAILABLE, can add a LOT to its value, the price of late model used vehicles included, I ended up buying New, the price of 2017 and newer just didn’t pencil out to me

To the OP, if it checks out, and you and the seller come to agreeable terms, Good Luck, and I’m Jealous, I would Love to have a portable bandmill, but it doesn’t fit, my lot, or budget at the moment, and I have Good relationships with my neighbors, and would like to keep it that way ;)

No doubt price is about availability. I work in the Supply Chain, so I see the reality every day. Now, raw steel, it's a bit more cost wise now, but those rates are reflected in the new machine's price. Some things right now are tougher to get on a commodity basis, but these are relatively simple machines. Computer chips and foam are not even on these machines.

It seems a bit high priced and judging by the kohler K it's been around a while. But if it's straight and tight then you could lose money on worse things.

new availability on Woodmizers is about a year, anywhere from 3months to 6 or so months from most everyone else. 8900 for that old a unit is high. that kind of money will get a very nice unit with just about all the options from anyone else if you are willing to wait.

Not an electronic chip, or bit of foam, on my bumper, it is now almost 3 months past expected delivery date, and at this point, still expecting to be another month.
Fortunately, I am not waiting on it for professional or income related reasons.

Pretty much 98%+ Steel, the price as advertised has gone up 20%, with new orders being expected to deliver in 2022

The price may seem high, but it is AVAILABLE, and Now, not Next Year. For some that makes a difference, for others, not so much

For me, this is a lot of weight that I would rather have on carrier designed for it.

I Thought that it was available, when I ordered it. Canceling the order, wouldn’t do me any good, it would just move me further down the list, when they do come in, if I order it from someone else.

I just gotta suck it up, and wait until mine shows up, and Hope in the mean time that the stock tailgate carrier holds up until then.

Yeah, I know that what you are ordering isn't requiring foam or chips. Custom bumpers might not seem to be a high priority item for manufacturing. Or maybe there's a couple of components that are made in countries that are seeing difficulty in production? Where is the bumper made? Import shipping is an issue now, with orders delayed due to high container shipping prices, and delays. Many times the companies are paying more for the freight than the contents are worth. Crazy... But that's how it is. Steel is up a lot more than 20% right now, more like nearly 2x, and maybe the company won't pay the higher price right now, pushing production out? Also, when a steel company gives a quote, you have to jump on it within minutes, not hours otherwise you'll get bumped. Lots of variables at play right now.

I have to be very careful in answering that, because FHC, doesn’t like the Truth to be told

One of the Biggest Problems Right Now, is the $300/week, don’t go to work benefit, which causes so many down stream issues, that many don’t think about.

Being in the supply chain, you should know that part of the problem is a container chassis supply issue, as well as drivers to move them.

According to the manufacturer/importer, my bumper is in a container, on the ground at the port of LA, but there is a chassis shortage. What is happening is that although companies are DESPERATE for workers, there aren’t enough people GOING TO WORK, and what cans do get put on chassis’s all too often SIT at loading docks waiting to be unloaded, while those chassis’s sit, more ships show up with more containers and the docks are/have run out room to ground containers. Ships have sat offshore waiting for room to ground their loads.

I have seen a similar problem in Portland, one of the accounts that I work has yard space leased, and we had 6-7 containers sitting in our yard because, the company responsible for returning them isn’t picking them up, it sounds like the rail hub is overwhelmed, and hasn’t got room to ground the empty cans, to load the chassis’s with loaded cans, the whole situation is an absolute muck up

It is an asset utilization issue, but one link in the chain, can tangle the whole system, and we are seeing, and Suffering from the results of that.

There are other issues as well, but that one is responsible for more problems than most people realize

    Ok derail over.
Been haggling on price and seeing operation with a log on saw before I buy it. Last counter offer was for $6,950. Getting better still more than i want to pay.
