I took the cover off my rancher 450 when the brake was applied. Now I cannot get it to release. How can I do this with it off the saw?
I had to do this for a coworker a few years ago… I chucked up the clutch cover in a bench vise with some wood scraps helping the vise to only bare on the flashed surfaces and then worked the jaws of a cheap pair of vise grips into the piece that the chain brake flag engages when mounted on the saw. Worked like a charm.
I’ve also put it back on as far as it could go, applied pressure enough at the handle driver until I could feel engagement and used the handle as it is normally used
yup, that’ll do it too. There’s a little more to removing the clutch than what Taryl shows though. you’ll need to stop the piston with a shoe string or something soft I made this video for a fellow hoarder just a little while ago. This 350 is coming in handy
