I am getting the 30 set up and ready (new fiberboard, new bricks.)

My question is how far does the stove pipe need to be inserted into the clay thimble? I have searched for any standards or recommendations and the only thing I could find was somebody on another forum stating it cannot go "into" the flu, it should be flush at most.

Neighbor was told it should extend a tiny bit into the flu.

The old stove did not go through but ended a few inches short.

Not sure if there is a standard or not.

If it extends into the flue, it would prohibit cleaning/sweeping, so don't stick it in that far.
I think the minimum would be 1 1/2" into the thimble; myself, would go a bit farther so if any gases are still "glowing" (burning) they would dump into the vertical flue and not the horizontal thimble...
Still have the manual for the wood stove???check under venting???

Just short of flush makes sense

Thanks, I will read through the manual again. I haven't found any specifics in there so far.
