Ordered a hookaroon I think I’m going to like it. I have a pulp hook and love that to get splits off the pile [IMG]

I think a hookaroon is the best doggone tool I have next to a chainsaw. Every single time I use it I wonder to myself why I didn’t have one sooner. Enjoy it!

I have two of the Fiskars ones, my son loves to use one to roll the rounds to the trailer ramp when we're scrounging.
He couldn't wait to show his friend how easy it makes it to move rounds he can't even lift.
I also love not having to bend over to pick up splits when stacking

I bought that Council Tool hookaroon about 3 years ago. Use it a lot, love it, and made in USA!

Also bought one of these a little while ago, but haven’t had the chance to really use it yet. Looking forward to the spring and hopefully the healing of my neck from getting T-boned in my Suburban. It’s bad enough just bring wood into the house. Don’t know how I’m going to process anything. Enjoy.

Hope you’re feeling better saewoody. And I hope you have a lawyer on it. You could suffer with that for the rest of your days. Best of luck to you.

I love my hookaroon , but it will go thru the bed of a pickup very easy. (Experienced)

Most truck beds come with drainage holes already in them.

Seriously though, better your truck bed than your foot.

Whenever I head to the woods, I load my hookaroon before I load the chainsaws. fact

in the winter, a hookaroon keeps your gloves dry which is a great bonus

Interested to see how it works for you. I have a Dixie with the same head on it and find it difficult getting the right angle for a bite. I have another short handled that is a straighter beak and it works excellently. My Woodchuck brand hookaroon is my go to.

I'm about done with a major firewood project of around 8 cords in 2 months. My pickaroon has proven to be one of the best tools I've ever used. I wish I'd bought one a long time ago.

Lately I've found my pickaroons are my favorite tools for carrying wood, spike each hard into the end of a round, slide my hands down each handle , grab and lift, instantly both rounds have a handle installed.
For the rounds too big to lift, the pickaroon becomes the dragging handle

Pulp hooks also excel for the double carry, and you can stick bigger rounds with one on each end and pick them up that way.

Pickaroons can be used to roll rounds along on smoother ground.

I'm all about having less gear to do everything, two XA22 pickaroons fit that role nicely

pick2.jpg Couple of home made pickeroons. on the right, one I made from a house axe. Had it several years, it works great. If I forgot it, I think I would come back home rather than cut and load without it. On the left, one I just made. Very amateurish attempt at tiger striping. The eye is mild steel and the blade is a piece of 3/16" tool steel from a huge saw blade. Not sure of the geometry on the pick, may adjust after use. And you're right, they do keep your hands dryer! pick1.jpg
