For Christmas we did a different meal than traditional...... Strombolis! We made fried chicken parm stromboli & Italian meats stromboli. They were great!

Tonight, I made some again, not wood fired style like fishingpol, but in the oven, turning often for eveness. This time Matt has his Italian meats and we're having the steak bomb stromboli!

    Those look perfect!

With my change in diet, I am pretty much out of the mud oven cooking of pizzas and such. Tough change, but really no choice. :headbang:

They did turn out perfect! Last week's batch got a little done on the bottom. Better with the diet change?

100% better. Huge difference. I did cut out most bread, pasta and tomatoes though. :headbang:

Stromboli is a favorite in this house! Usually salami or sausage with carmelized onion and garlic. I roll em and cook them very slow at 300 so the dough inside cooks.

They look delicious! We'll try some pizza soon. Cooking time I've been using is 500° for about ten minutes, then reducing heat to 375° for about 12 minutes or so.

So is a stromboli just like a calzone only rolled?

They are similar. The stromboli is larger. I haven't seen too many calzones that have all the different varieties a stromboli has.

    Those do look awesome!

I too have cut out a lot of carbs, and I've been rewarded with a loss of over 20lbs due to that. But I've found that I can still eat the bad for you but great tasting stuff, as long as I behave during the work week. That allows me to eat the stuff i want, so I don't crave it.

Now regarding the tomatoes, or any fruit, if it's naturally occurring, there's zero issues with any amount of sugar in fruit.

But as with everything, moderation is key.

    Yes, very simple

    4c bread flour
    1 tsp sugar
    2 tsp kosher salt
    .25oz quick yeast
    2 TBS olive oil
    1.5c water roughly 110°F

Sit in olive oil coated covered bowl for 1 hour.
