This is a first for me, liquids, active yeast, flour, proofing, cutting, rolling, twisting, boiling, and finally baking. A pita imo, but they are done, some fell apart pulling from the boil, cooling now, taste test imminent........ ugly little fellas huh?
I'll admit they don't look too pretty...but how'd they taste? I never bake. Too mich measuring for me. So tip fo the hat to you, sir!
I'm sure you ate the evidence. Baking is a real intricate process. My wife, who's a great cook, has finally started baking more than the simplest of recipes. I've eaten a lot of evidence
They were delicious. I was actually playing jeopardy while making these. I won 6 to 5 against Dawn. The water was boiling to hard while dipping a pretzel. Once i turned down the water, they setup for 30 seconds the rest were good. Edit, after reading JIMBETHYNAME's post, i forgot to twist the middle!
Did you use baking soda or lye in the water? I've boiled them in plain water and thought they were fine, just not as purty.
We made these about 3 years ago, as a German representative food for my kid's pre-K world culture week. Both came out awesome. The pretzels are a bit time consuming with all the steps, but they were really good. A good "stuck in the house" thing to make.
I made a batch a few years ago, and they looked only slightly better. Tasted good. Think I'll stick with bread.
Please post the recipe so I can avoid it....and if there ain't no twist it ain't no pretzel---no amount of mustard will take care of those
