Now that the cold seems to have settled in here in my neck of the woods my wife and I are already thinking spring. With almost 7000 square feet of garden it can be an almost full time job after work thru out the summer but right now with the wind chills in the minus' the work all seems worth it. I know every one likes pics so I got a bunch to share. Keep warm but think spring.
My grocery store. Theres more but the tatties and squash and such is in the cold storage and the sweet corn and some other stuff is in the freezer and theres a bunch of dehydrated stuff in the cupboards.

Looking great there Butcher! My grocery store looks a lot like yours, so much so that I forget what the inside of the other grocery store looks like. I imagine you guys do a pretty good job of staying out of there as well, by the looks of it. Well done.
That's a great looking stockpile. We can every summer. It's a lot of work between all the other summer stuff. Canned our first corn this year. It took a lot longer than usual to cook it, but was well worth it. Did a batch of chicken breast in pints recently. Haven't tried it yet, but it looks good. Where can I find one of those garden zombie guys, wife would love it?
We freeze all of our corn. No cooking involved till you want to eat it. 15 cups corn 1/2 cup sugar 1 1/2 T salt 5 cups ice water Mix all ingredients and put in bags or containers and freeze. I didn't know you could do that. We blanched and froze our corn the past 2 years but canned it this year. I like having the extra room in the freezer and the corn tastes pretty darn good canned. This past summer, we grew a hybrid from Gurney's called 'gotta have it'. Best corn we've ever had. Much better than the field corn they sell at the veggie stands.
That's a nice garden its nice knowing where your food came from I am working toward being self sufficient I haven't done a garden yet but it's in plans for this year going to be a learning curve for sure I raised my own meat chickens and turkeys and egg layers last summer for the first time can't wait to start again this year
Nice Butcher. Our garden is getting a little bigger every year. It is tough for the wife to keep up with it though because we have three young ones. I am usually cutting grass or working on some project. But I am going to have to commit some time to helping her with the garden if I want it to be even bigger in the future.
Neighbors are getting ready to butcher some hogs. I offered to dig a big hole in my garden to bury the leftovers. If I do I got a brush pile I'll probably try to push in their too. Hope I got enough dirt to cover it all back up with.
You should see my homegrown lol, sorry couldn't help it. I have an old shed outside that I'm going to tear down but keep the base platform and jerry rig a greenhouse. Last summer was too wet and I think my tomatoes suffered for it just being out in the elements. It was my first time growing veggies though.
