[/ATTACH] Howdy glad to meet y'all. I live in western WA in the rain. Burn mostly fir, madrona, cherry and locust and whatever is free and close. I have a friend who owns a tree service who calls whenever a client does not want to pay to have taken down rounds removed from their yard. I come along and carry it away for free. We heat exclusively with wood all winter but only use about 3-3.5 cords a year because our winters are so mild and the house is well insulated and of moderate size. I have a sthil 260 with a 20" bar and a 391 with a 24" bar. Also have a Dirty Hand Tools 35 ton splitter with a few mods I have made (posted in the "Power Equipment" Forum). Have a small hobby welding shop and a CNC plasma cutter hence my name. This and wood cutting keeps me occupied along with several other hobbies. Have always loved wood heat between the woodstove and generator we keep toasty warm even when the power is out. In my looking over the FHC site it's fun to see others getting the satisfaction of a measure of self sufficiency by heating with wood. I have a "Postcard" picture of my shed last year and a couple of a work in progress as well as my wood trailer. The last is with the shed half full and about 4 cords stacked in front. This summer I will transfer 3+ cords to the shed to replace what burned this winter. The stuff out front is predominantly madrona and locust with a little cherry and fir thrown in. metalcuttr

Happiness is: Egg-cell-ant first post!! Welcome to the club. I’m headed over to check out your splitter. First order of business is to make sure you are horizontal, (the correct way). Lol! Beat ya to it Denis!!
Great looking wood stacks and welcome to FHC! You’re definitely in the right place with an intro like that!
Welcome to the club, glad you found us! Those have to be some of the neatest stacks I’ve ever seen. I saw your splitter mods too - very nice work! I’d like to see some pics of that - I work for one of the biggest names in CNC plasma cutting.
Welcome Metalcuttr! Great looking stacks and I love the woodshed postcard pic.. I see you split many fairly wide...?
All I can say is WOW@metalcuttr . You wood stacking skills are about the best I have seen. Welcome to the club and thanks for the pics.
