After 6 long months in the making, Our builder gave me the go ahead! Nothing fancy yet, but it is in and ready to heat in the neighborhood of 2800 sq ft. Basement is unfinished, but framed up for sheetrock. I will start the process once I move in.

Stripped down and moved into place:

Installed a damper and adding the double wall up to the thimble:

    Got it connected:
    IMG_3829.JPG
(Note the walk up on the right which is going to be perfect for bringing in wood!)

All back together and begging to be lit: IMG_3830.JPG

Man I can't wait to start a fire in it!! We hopefully close by the end of next week or the following week! I will also probably add some sheetrock behind it to tidy up and keep the insulation from being exposed right near the stove.

Looks great. Good luck with the new house. I know it's tempting to start that fire

    OK Sconnie!

Just where and when is the light off party? If it ain't too far south......:D

Is the stove far enough away from the wall? (Hadda ask)

New house is about 25 mins east of the Twin Cities. On the good side of the river of course! Prolly a little far for you to come join the funn but I guarantee you there will be more pics!

The stove is 8" from the wall to allow for durarock and some stone veneer in the future. Can be 6" with the close clearance shield I got from WS.

Close, between Roberts and New Richmond actually. So its more like 35 mins from the cities I guess. I work in Hudson though.

Sconnie, thats gonna be nice. And those low clearances will help out with the aesthetics....like that stove needs any help with that anyway, no?

Looking forward to the pics. Don't know how you could have waited to fire it up once the pipe was hooked up! :D

I don't technically own the house yet so didn't want to push the issue with the builder. I moved it to the house 3 weeks ago before we got snow so I could drive around to the back and bring it in the walk out. He wasn't extatic about that move but I wasn't gonna wait till spring to get that thing in there!!

I can just imagine the anticipation of firing that thing up. Good that the contractor let you install it.

I have metal studs and concrete behind mine so I could technically hug it to the wall. I have a six inch gap behind the heat shield and the stone stays cool behind the stove. It barely gets warm behind the stovepipe.

You are running double wall pipe I hope? I forget the clearance with double wall pipe but 6 inches to the wall is awesome for the stove. I've got a corner install in my den and I'm thinking of moving it to the living room which is more centrally located. A corner install takes up more room than you think and it doesn't allow you to put a rack of wood next to it. Obviously outside of the clearance to combustible range that is.

Double wall has a 6" ctc as well. Having it 6" from the wall definitely saves a lot of room vs 14" or 16" out!!

Yes, it's double wall.- although with nothing combustable behind it, I might have been able to go even closer. I needed 6 inches for the 90degree bend. I had it corner installed at the last house and the back wall seemed to get much warmer. Maybe because it was dark slate tile.

House is already complete. We are just waiting on the bank to get the appraisal back and finalize the loan. It was a builder finance build so I had/have no stake in the house yet other than odds and ends he let me add on the weekends. Hopefully be able to close within the next 2 weeks.

My liability carrier would not let anyone hookup a wood burning stove and burn in it until I no longer owned the house. Sconnie is hooking up the stove but not burning in it. There probably is some rider I could purchase to do that but the cost might be more cost effective to burn propane. I just sold my big heater it was a 385K BTU propane heater. I could thaw a frozen basement in 3 days and 400 lbs of propane . That is uninsulated. Once you get to sheetrock it doesn't take that much to keep it 75-80 degrees in the house.

Yep, its going to sit there looking all purdy until I take ownership of the property. Maybe I'll have the kids draw a picture of a fire and tape it to the glass so when we go visit the house it looks cozy.:emb::thumbs:
