Late in posting, Friday me and my bonus son(stepson) split 2 cherry trees I cut out of the pasture, cherry trees are not good around cows and horse, got them split and loaded and was taking to wood yard and the bonus daughter said she wanted to help stack!! Off we go and they stacked the whole load while I supervised, they said: this is fun!! Excellent day!!

Love the term "bonus". Just like whitewashing a fence, don't call it work, make it fun and everyone wants to participate. When I was a kid, had a pony and mud boat I used to bring wood to the house on. We lived on the West end of town, every kid wanted to help if they saw me with that pony and mud boat out!.

Thanks for the welcome, as far as pictures I'm not very tech savvy honestly I don't know how to put them on haha!!!
This forum is awesome!!!! I look at it every night . Very glad I found a like-minded group, all my friends think I'm crazy because I like to cut wood, mow grass and keep busy. I don't golf, play video games, etc, I just like to work and keep busy and take care of my farm. Thanks again for the warm welcome!!

woodcutter68 I just saw you are fairly new to the site. Welcome aboard. No such thing as a dumb question, except for the ones that don't get asked. We help each other the best we can.

    Welcome woodcutter68
I cut my first cherry this past summer. It was dead standing but still smelled amazing fresh cut.

But before posting, choose "thumbnail or full image." This puts the picture right into the post rather than showing attached. It helps the reader a lot, especially those who don't have super fast internet speed.

Thanks backwoods savage!...... Helped a buddy do some tree work today, pruned a sugar maple and took down a two year dead ash. And I mean dead, pulled a lot of branches out with my throw line, being rusty from lack of practice.
A great day went smooth no one got hurt made a little extra cash and spent time with a good friend!!!

haha yeah nice you got help. I'm a one man show most of the time. My lazy azz roomate I unfortunately let live with me won't help me a bit. Sure likes to use my wood though when he's cold. Can't get him out soon enough.

It is always great to have help, especially if it is kids or grandkids. I wouldn't have near the wood that I have put up with out the grandkids.
I was laid up Jan 2017, Two of my grandsons and a couple of their friends showed up to work wood. I supervised. They made me tired just watching the young'uns chucking wood.
3 years ago, my daughter and granddaughter were here and grabbed the truck. They brought the whole years wood up to the house and stacked it.
A lot to be said about the younger generation. They are not all lazy and just interested in working out their figure muscle.
Cherish the time when they are young. Can't wait to have my 19 month great-grandson to help come summer.
