Hi First post on the forum.. Have a P68, built in Jan 2011, serial # 008286918. I'm looking for some type of battery backup where I'm able to turn off the stove in the case of a power outage to prevent smoke back. Manual says the following can be used: APC BE750G - Discontinued, found APC BN900M 900VA TrippLite INTERNET750U Surefire 512H Another option: CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD PFC Sinewave UPS System, 1500VA/900W What should I purchase? In the case of extended power outage, I run a generator. Attached is what Harman emailed me but would like to gwt more opinions. Thanks
Nice to meet you, welcome to the club. I have a CyberPower from a post IHATEPROPANE had out, it was a holiday sale on them.
I had that APC BE750G, replaced it with a CP1500. Both did the job, let the stove cycle the fan until I could get the generator going. Sam
Thanks. Need to be the PFC sinewave CB1500 correct? I found the one in IHP post. What are the thoughts about APC BN900M?
IHP is the man, when it comes to this stuff. Send him a PM, or maybe he'll see this thread. Hey, IHATEPROPANE BTW, welcome to the forum.
Thanks. Hopefully he will see oyherwise a pm will be sent. Just looking for something to pulse the combustion blower if a power outage occurs.
I believe the APC unit will trigger you Harman to shut down. If you want the stove to continue running as if nothing happened, the pure sine wave cyber power unit should keep you running for about an hour. But if the generator or power isn't back on by then, the stove may leak smoke when the juice runs out. Since most outages are very short around me or I am home when weather is bad. I opt for that Cyber power. Really nice unit in my opinion.
And no dip switch settings need to be changed with the cyberpower? This will allow the blower to pulse. Sorry if I keep repeating myself. Just want to make sure I understand
I think IHP is saying the Cyber Power keeps the stove running until its battery is exhausted (or you get power back / generator running). The blower would be pulsed by the APC UPS and the stove will shut itself down during that time. Or at least that is what the BE750G does that I have on both of my stoves. Welcome to the forum!
Yes - the CyberPower will not shut the stove down or pulse. You'd need to either shut down the stove manually or get your genny running before the CyberPower battery is depleted. The power supplied by this unit is too clean for the stove to recognize a power outage has occurred.
Was about to purchase CP then saw this post. I ended up buy Tripp Lite Internet750u. Thanks everyone for the help and clarifications.
I beleive the first CB with the "pulse" revision was revision E......youd need to check your circuitboard
