I used 2 methods. The red dot lazer tool which i aimed thru the distributer vent holes and a digital meat thermometer which i put in the same holes. Both gave same temps within a couple degrees.

Scary HOT I would say
You'll need a fenced perimeter around that beast :smoke:
What are you burning and at what warp speed do you have your ship set at? :D

Easyblaze premo softwoods, feed rate#3, set at 73 degrees, fan speed less than half speed. Stove or constant mode. Pellets are quite small so can get away with 2/half feed rate when not too cold out. I am seriously running at half throttle of what the stove can put out. But i know how to contain the beast. Excellent softwoods are key here per heat output in my opinion.plus a clean stove. Talk about scary, have douglas firs i have not used at all yet as winter here has been pretty moderate so far. I don't think the firs will be much hotter but probably Less Ash.

I usually measure my stove, on the right hand side (looking at the stove),
a little above center. With a laser..
I like to know how hot the stove is that way..When it drops substantially,
    I know it's cleaning time..

I pretty much do the same with a stove pipe thermometer on the side of the stove. If I have to start increasing the feed rate to maintain 400*, time for a cleaning.

I just read mine with a digital laser thermometer and just above center on the right side I got 588°. I was having a problem with it lighting earlier so I lit it manually but that seems pretty damm high

I cant hold my hand anywhere near the distrbution vent for fear of scalding and thats under 500 degrees so 688 seems impossible but i see it on your tool...i don t think doug firs can get that hot. Matras,?? Ok. I just did another test and hit 538 with EZBlaze super premo Softies. Ithink another 150 degrees would melt my p61A. Not doubting you but holy Chri..

Yeah I’m using a mix of either matras and fsu (just to get rid of them) or matras and northern warmth supreme firs. But the matras alone burn awesome. I just started having a problem with my stove where it doesn’t seem to want to light. I had to buy a new piece of glass for it since my son broke it. So I have new glass and new gasket but I’m wondering if I need to replace me burn pot gaskets. I seem to also go through an ignitor every 2-3 years

Henry's is the same..., we both have 68's.
    Different, decent, heat guns.
His in a large garage, mine in my basement.
He runs his pretty much hammer down to heat the big shop.
It ramps up the same 680's..
DF's, Matra, LaCrete right up there..
I think they get up there, and then the stove kicks in and
says "That's enough boys".. and levels off.
    It won't "overfire"..

    Dan

(Edit: I should throw some LG's in, and see what they do by themselves..
    And get back to this)

I forgot that your running a P68 to my P61. 7k difference so heat output would be higher at times. Have to say though that i could not get the same output from matras that i got out of the EZBlaze softies. They just didnt get as hot for me.

Dang thats hot! I'd be crankin up the fan speed to spread it around. Which would run the stove cooler.

Where the stove is in the basement.. I like the radiant heat there.
It is where my computer desk etc. is located
(and a lounge chair, and tv to watch whatever I want..)
My convection blower heat, is ducted to the upstairs, so the heat that you think is
coming out of the stove ports, is not really in the basement.. it all goes upstairs.
    Without the stove being there...
Basement is ~66°, all radiant..dining room is ~73° all convection..
The stove does not spend too much time at those big numbers. Only a few minutes,
then it starts to throttle down..
