I have a half cord of mulberry stacked alone and looking to sell. Being a rather rare tree in my area (CT/NE members can back me on this) and an even rarer scrounge im looking to get a good premium. Thinking of using the snap/crackle selling strategy. Your thoughts/ideas FHC?

The snap crackle is strong with this wood. Makes great ambiance if that's desired. Premiums around me are just over $200 a full cord. There's one guy just up the road asking $280 for smoker hickory wood. :zip:

Get 200 if you can. You should be happy with the $ you make for your time and effort. Advertise it as snap crackle pop or rice crispy wood and see what happens. Find the market that will buy a unique wood burning experience. Best of luck!

Well its gone. IMG_5863.JPG Had a delivery today for a long time regular customer. Called him, explained about the mulberry and he gladly accepted. He has a screen and glass enclosed fireplace. Got $200 for the heaping half cord plus extra for distance and stacking. My usual is $140 for a half cord delivered. IMG_5870.JPG IMG_5869.JPG
Nice when i can back up right to the rack. Some was stacked on his back porch too. IMG_5871.JPG I always chuckle with the road he lives on! IMG_5868.JPG
Now to find more! Only a couple sticks on hand.

    Good job!

200 a half cord is definitely nice, but you deliver it and stacked it too, right? Well worth the cash for those that don't don't do their own work.

Extra $20 for added distance and $20 to stack. Plus he bought three boxes of cedar kindling at $10 each.
    $270 sale! :dancer:

RARE scrounge for me. If i was retired id haunt the dump where i got most of this (my old hometown next to us) and i bet id get it more often as i often see limbs of it there.

I would market an "exotic" or "ambiance" half cord of mulberry, sassafras, and walnut as such. Sassy being the only "common" score of the three.

Do you get a premium for smoker wood Jeff?

Have you burned any to know it's full effect? If I load any in the stove, when I open the door next time and flood the firebox with fresh air, I have to be very cautious. Sparks fly everywhere and the crackle effect blossoms. Same happens at a very reduced rate with SBH. It's like little firecrackers in there going off sometimes.

It's fairly common (weed tree) around these parts but I don't get much of it. I still get a premium regardless. Well done!

I see you already sold it but the answer is yes, you should definitely get a premium for it. It's right up there with if not better than oak as far as heat is concerned and for the right buyer, they may enjoy the show it provides.

Nicely done Brad! I get a premium for Hickory, Maple, Cherry & Beech for the smokers. I make the size to order & they like it wet/green.

The number ive encountered in my travels the last couple years i can count on two hands. There may be areas where they are concentrated that im not aware of.
