Holy dusty dirty pellets! This is my first ton and with the crappy spring been burning them , and just can't believe the mess!
I tried a few bags of GS Appalachian hardwoods and they we're not bad at all. ashy but have had much worse from bbs's..
Yeah, the 15 bags I got late winter, just to try, were like the 2nd or 3rd worst pellet I had ever bought ash-wise. They did throw decent heat though, so I couldn't classify them as THE worst (that honor goes to ThermaGlows). Pretty bad that I HAD to empty the P61a's ash pan after 2 weeks - and that wasn't even the height of heating season . The GS we get are the "Northeast" blend, not the Appalachians.
Wow! I have the p61a also and I never remember having to empty the ash pan in 2 weeks. In my freshman days of owning a pellet stove I would buy some Home Depot stuff like stove Chow's but don't remember ever emptying the ash pan in 2 weeks. Dems got to be pretty bad
That depends on what you have. They are making multiple Green Supreme these days with some better than others. If you have the Northeaastern Blend, be prepared for ash. If a different flavor, then you might be OK.
meh.....2 weeks? Yea, thats ashy, but really, how much work is it to drag out the ash pan, take it out, and dump it? IMHO, thats not really all that bad when these wood guys have to empty their stuff every day. As long as you know what to expect, one can deal with it.
Used to have a wood stove at my old place, used it for 13 years - emptied it once per week. The P61a has such a big ash pan that 2 weeks is excessive ash from a non-competitively priced pellet (more expensive than TSC). Just one of the worst pellets I've ever burned ash-wise. If I could get it for $150/ton, I would buy it again
Incredible heat output.. On 'wow' setting, you can't even get near the damm thing.. 800°.. no problem. Dan
