    Wot's all this, then? IMG_20191221_10676.jpg
And what happens to the rest of the hickory?

Ha. That’s the superintendent. It’s his property. I forgot about him. Guy’s crazy. He fell it then ran the Cat. Wants to do another tomorrow. I said no for now. We took about 2/3 of the hickory we bucked. May grab some more Monday. I’m running out of space with some walnut and oak still
    To cut

Long Island is seeming more and more like the "land of chocolate", except for firewood.
    Mhhhh... the land of chocolate...

Just thinking out loud here... it looks like the mini ex has a thumb could it be used to pick the log up off the ground while it’s being cut?

Was thinking the same thing. But we cut only halfway through. Then he rolled it for us and we cut the rest of the way.

    You got the job done!

I envy you guys that get calls for you to come get free wood, it’s almost unheard of here. On the little 1 mile road I live on there are about 20 houses 15 have wood piles and smoke out the chimney nobody is giving away wood.

I’d rather live where you live and have your “problems”. Here no one knows what to do with wood

    Nice haul!

Ear and eye protection is the cheapest insurance you can buy.
I hope you don’t take offense.

I have a chainsaw helmet with ear muffs and a mask. I should have been wearing it but I was not. Agreed!

Golf course near me in StonyBrook had an area where they stockpiled all their cut trees. Town got after them to empty it out and clean it up. They hired a friend of mine to do it. Got 4 big dump truck loads of oak, walnut and cherry from there all log length.
Oak was so old all the sapwood and bark was gone. When I cut it up the 24” red oak it was still soaking wet.

I have noticed a post on craigslist that looks similar to what you are talking about.
