We are getting going on our garage project finally. The roof has been bad and there is damage to joists and floor boards of the loft. My brother has been hired to do the roof, but the floor will be my department. We started to rip the bad floor boards out today and I will finish that up tomorrow, then I need to make a run to home depot for supplies to repair joists and then the floor. After that it will be time to finish getting the junk out of the loft and then start setting up my above ground man cave!
I will just try to take pics before all the natural light goes away. Putting electric out there is below roof and floor repairs but before insulating.
Yeah, I know the sequence. Just messin' with ya', because you know the "rule". I love reno. builds and from scratch builds. Patiently awaiting pics.
Probably going to make some out of burlap! Here is a progress pic. One layer of shingles, one of shakes. Plywood nearly all on the south side. Shingles are going up tomorrow. Doors are heavily damaged by water, has a replacement ready for the small one, the big one will be a project.
Grizzly, Nice project. You are correct. The doors are fantastic but tired looking. On the rebuild of the doors try to re-use the hardware. IMO that is what makes them along with the crown molding above the doors. When today would we put crown molding above a barn door??? Again, nice project to restore.
Im not going for an original look, going for functional. The replacement double doors will be sliding doors-- a lot of the current damage came from the way these ones opened and it's a pita. I will try to reuse hardware, but only cosmetically.
