After inviting leoht to come and help me cut up some large yellow box trees on a property I have access to we were sitting around the campfire and he mentioned this forum so I thought I’d take a look. I burn around 15-20 cubic meters a year or 4-6 chords of good Aussie hardwood with either yellow box from the farm or stringy or peppermint eucalypt from a local firewood coupe. I have a slow combustion heater as our main source of heating. As you can see by my user name I’m a husky guy but I’m not a snob and like stihls as well. I only have one saw and that’s a 562xp and love it. Anyway here are some pics. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Welcome HuskyMatt, we can always use another Aussie! You guys bring a lot to the table. I love the mesh sides on your trailer. And I've never heard of yellow boxwood, how does it burn?
Yellow box is awesome one of the best eucalyptus woods here in Australia very solid and heavy and burns hot and lasts very well. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I bet it smells great too! That's a pretty spot you were cutting in. Nice to see the green grass, you must be getting some rain.
It is a beautiful spot and yes very green. It’s late spring but still wet and cold here. Drought in northern Aus with really bad bushfires at the moment it’s going to be a bad summer for most of Australia. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The 562xp is my third Husky. I started cutting wood with my dad and grandfather at about 14-15 with a small echo. Early 20’s and bought my first saw a 359 and had it for years. Sold it when I got access to this property and bought a 576xp had that for a few years but sold it to get the 562 as I wanted a saw to take 4wding and camping so I run a 20” and 16” bar and serves me well. Welcome to the forum HuskyMatt. We like Aussies here; just ask leoht. Maybe he could talk you into coming over here on the other side of the world to meet a few more wood hoarders?!
Welcome HuskyMatt , I didn't for a moment think you were a saw snob. Just thought you were a big, chunky, friendly guy named Matt! Welcome to the club!
