Hello my log-hoarding friends, My workmate text me earlier and asked if I needed a top-up? OH YES....PLEASE! Came the answer. He mentioned that another load was in the offing, but no, I had to turn it away. I like hoarding wood with the best of them, but I do need to be able to move around the garden every once in a while. Dumped on the slope of doom. Soon to be split 'n stacked. Happy Flames Are Here To Stay! Keep it dry. BB
Bob salutations from Devon and great score mate! When you've burned proper dry oak you will never turn it away again Happy hoarding, Jim
Cheers, Jim! I do like burning Oak and it looks like I will be burning oak for the next 5 years. Happy flames! BB
I've got some white oak in the driveway that we've been driving around for a while. No one has said anything but sometimes that silence is deafening. I stopped adding to it when no one was looking . I'd get to it but I've been busy making the pile in the woods that no one sees even bigger. I have run out of places to stack though, but only because every place I want to stack I have a tree or two to drop. So yeah, maybe a sane person says stop every now and then. Sane can be boring though.
Let me put things into hoarding context. I work for the local Parks Dept. In said Dept we have a group of tree surgeons who supply me with wood as and when I require. Sometimes I receive a text asking if I want a load dumped...Sure! But I also know I can turn down a load because a new load is just around the corner. I appreciate that's not the case for most hoarders. You gotta grab it while you can! I guess I'm lucky in that way. I want for nothing, but appreciate what comes my way. Happy Flames! BB
Not doing bad hoarding wood. Could be worse BB P.S. Is it OK to just leave a stack without covering the top?
I see sun shining! If heavy rain is forecast, you might throw a tarp over it. Plenty of people here leave oak uncovered for the first year.
Not bad at all iBob I don't think you need to concern yourself too much over a bit of rain on those new stacks. Doesn't look like you'll need them right away. Cover over when the stack is full. Nice hoarding.
I leave my Oak uncovered for 2 seasons, then top cover what I plan to burn in the coming winter. It doesn't seem to care.
Bob, I love your outlook. Whatever your position in life or your religious persuasion this is truly a key to being content! Have a swell day my friend
I wonder if you have room to cut, stack and season some extra...that you can sell for some extra cash come fall/winter. If the lads are cutting and delivering to you, you're well on your way!
