Woke up this morning at 5:00 am. The AS is cold as ice.... what happened ??? The fire had gone out !!!! No coals in stove for a relight .... hhhhmmmmm.... Guess my morning fire from yesterday wasn’t enough to last 24 hours... it was still 73 in the house when I went to bed, and nobody put anymore wood in the stove... Now where did I put the matches ??? This stove rocks !!!!
That is great to hear and just more promising word of mouth for Woodstock Stoves. I know what my dream stove is without a doubt
... I want a IS! Anyone want to loan me a few K on a 30 year fixed rate...? Let’s say market rate of 4%?
I made a grave mistake this morning with my AS. I apparently put too much wood in for the weather conditions. Came home to a warm wife and the doors open.
Did something similar with my IS. Loaded it up before I left for work with my wife home and this by 745am Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
Wow, even with my stove going full blast I struggled to get it up to 82. Are IS stoves that much better at putting out heat than my cheap stove from Lowe’s?
Not sure if the output is better, but I know my AS is very good on wood usage. A lot less heat out the chimney
It is funny that some folks talk about the heat as if it is a bad thing. Shoot, we like it 80 in the house in the winter months. Why not have it both comfortable and so that the ladies wear less clothing?
My stove is in the far corner of my house. I was worried about the far bedrooms not getting much heat. But my IS gets the job done. Far bedrooms get around 73/74°. Super happy with it! The heat coming off this stove is insane. Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
I threw in a couple of Red Oak gnarly chunks, figuring they would burn slow. I guess even this leaky house will hold heat when it's 50* outside in the wee hours. It's 76 in here and I'm down to a tee shirt..I'll have to lose the pants soon!
If we were to put either one of those Woodstock stoves in our 1200 sq ft ranch it would be too much stove. Our Fireview has been in since 2013 with no plans to change anything. No way could we ever get that long of a burn though. More like 6 to 8 hours.
I was getting some pretty long burns with the Fv unless it was very cold out and I needed more heat. Moderate climate here but the house isn't very tight and has no wall insulation. In average temps and not a lot of wind I could run the air down around .5 and the stove top would stay above 250 for a long time, and then I'd open the air on the coals to maintain stove temp for a few more hours. Depending on your level of insulation and air-sealing, I bet the Fv does pretty well with that sq. footage to heat. I wondered if the AS would be too much stove here, but if you can run a low, cat-only burn with it, I think it would be OK..
Heck, I just got 11 hrs. over 300 stove with my dinky Keystone (had mostly Pignut in there so that helped.) It would be nice to almost double my fire box volume..
