Hey all. Been lurking here a bit. New to forum, but not new to collecting and burning wood. I’m a remodeling contractor from Rhode Island. Grew up in the backyard behind the controls of a splitter and being forced to stack wood. Hated it then, but love it now. I enjoy the whole process from harvesting to burning. I’m on my forth stove, started with several cheap CL finds that just weren’t up to my expectations. So 5 years back I finally ponied up and purchased a new Jotul carabassett and never looked back. It’s been a great burner and comfortably heats my home from the bottom up on roughly 3 cord a year. I have a small ranch and even smaller yard, so all my processing typically takes place off site at my folks place as I do not have the room for storage. Also in the stable is a husky 455 rancher w/16” bar for limbing, and a newly acquired Jonsered 2258/20” for felling/bucking. The rancher was formerly the jack of all with a 20” bar but I decided I needed more power. Also have a wheel horse 16hp hydro to mussel around the splitter/wood and such. IF you saw the size of my yard you’d laugh at me like the wife, but it’s fun to load up the cart behind the horse and tote the wood 50’ from the shed to house. Sorry to be long winded, looking forward to to the site
Nice planks! This was my last take, oak. Came down in the nor’easter we got last week in a friends yard. The b@lls were damm near hanging out of my trailer....the noises it made in transport sounded like she was screaming for help. It’s already split, just need to get it stacked
And no snow in the pic? WTH? I thought you were part of that storm? hhmmmpphhh! Fake weather, I tell ya! Welcome aboard noob.
That was the first of 3 nor’easter we received, first 2 were all rain, yesterday we got 12” plus. We get screwed here in RI. I love the winter months and enjoy the snow even more. There’s trees down all over around here with all these recent storms, I’m just so reluctant to go marching into the woods roadside to take it....
Welcome. Its nice to see another RI contractor on here. You will love it here. And yea, these guys are nuts for pics
Me too. Thought I was on the Yahoo Finance page. Might have to throw some coin at FNG, looks like a good investment if you buy the dips!
Lol. Around here, the FNG ends up surrending all their "extra" cash on more toys, er I mean tools. Welcome aboard classicdmax
Welcome classicdmax the FNG! Size isn’t everything and you got wood, that’s what’s impotent, er important! Nice to see someone newer around here than me lol. Btw if you want snow come on up to Maine. Horkn makes a great point so be careful. So far it’s a new stove and a new tractor here...
