I have had a lot of office chairs that I got rid of because they keep dropping down too low for me. I'm not one who has to change the height. I came across this easy fix on you tube. For about a buck and 10 min. of your time you can fix your chair from falling down ever again. I did this only I used 1 and a quarter inch PVC pipe connectors. I just used two, two inch connectors. No cutting that way. Simple fix to a nagging problem and saved my otherwise good chair.
Sweet find, SM. The chair I have is the most comfortable one I've ever owned and recently started doing this. Heading out to the shop for some pipe. Thank you much!
A lot of pneumatic lifts will pump up the pressure and gaskets if you spin the chair around and around with the base stationary ( I sold commercial office furniture ).
My fat butt seems to have a way with pneumatic pumps. They always fail. I really never adjust the height, so this fix was perfect for me. Only took about 10 mins. I've replaced a couple pumps and that worked for a while, but then back again to dropping down. (I'm just too heavy) This little repair was less than a buck and 10 mins. time. Just love YouTube
Ummmm. I was distracted by complaining/arguing daughters right after I posted that. The keg of beer and the dartboard out in the shop seemed like a good way to kill some time before bed. Gonna take care of it tonight. Maybe.
I "snatched" a really good looking, polished office desk + chair from this agency that I consult. The manager was in the process of resigning after being infuriated with his bosses and he just wanted to get rid of all his belongings. Well, he said he had walked into an empty room upon joining the organization and he's leaving that place empty. I converted the opportunity amidst the firefighting and well, I had requested quotes from a furniture store and almost made the deal. My mind is tentative right now; because I've flipped the chair for a reasonable price due to this 'chair-dropping' issue. Should have just googled or watched this video on YouTube. Should I keep the desk or get the new one?
