Well gang, weird title huh... Well, this will be the 3rd time this stove has been moved and repiped since ownership 1980. The first time it was purchased and installed in our up stairs living room, pipe straight through the ceiling. 2nd time, we turned the garage into a sitting/living room and moved the stove there in 1990 with a terra-cotta lined block chimney. then the worst thing happened that could have, Review this thread: Chimney is Dead! Well, Now, the 3rd time and after extensive work with the better part of $4000.00 in materials , Grandma is getting her 3rd lease on life and a final one for me! This is where I got today with the pipe Install I started. I'm done and ready for a Beer! I'll go Vertical tomorrow, to hot and humid now! Miller time! Enjoy!
It's a 100% requirement here. If you put up anything else, you'll see rust on it within a year. Many of folks have made that mistake down here.
Made it 2 more sections today, over the roof edge now, 1 to go. This fat @ss is getting tired of doing the ladder thing . I'm not 24 any more... Beer time!
Thank you! Going slow, but going. If my knees and back would cooperate more it would go smoother. One day one hurts and the other don't, vice vrsa...
Chimney looks great Dave, but it's just not right watching the chimney going up & seeing the AC unit in the background. I'm way past done with the stupid humidity.
You are sooooooooo right! It's been 85% to 90% every day here... If I didn't need to do this, well.... I need to do this! Sadly, it only gets cooler here, humidity sticks around most of the year.
Well, I'm gonna do a slow breaking fire and burn off all the oils inside the pipes first, I'll have all the windows open, but it shouldn't effect us in the house at all. I'll do a burn maybe early October, it'll still be 75º out...
Did a cool first burn in july, smoked us good. Did another sunday, up to 450° this time, smoked us good, but planned both times. Was 55 that evening and night, so burned hot, closed windows, and let it burn out. We ran it briefly today, one load, took the chill off. More or less, we're committed to NOT running the furnace this year (other than when we're not here). I like the stone facade, classy touch. Sca
Finished soffit today, my body needs a break! I'm gonna put last piece of pipe on Saturday when my Daughter can come up on the roof with me and hold a line on a harness, I'll be waring. We have some gusty wind today and calling for heavy rain late tonight into tomorrow.
It FINISHED!!! Outside anyway! I'm gonna celebrate with a Beer, Imagine that! My Daughter and I just got done and I wanted to get this up. The outside is Finally done!!! This project has been on going since late April. I didn't do anything in the 85º plus day and that put a stop on things for about 6 weeks! I can't stand the heat. I did this solely alone with very little help, I did need my Daughter today so I could bed in the roof screws and put in backing plates. I'll caulk up some things that need to be done and have a Beer!
