Not the big buck I was looking for, but this one won’t be killing any more of our cats. [IMG]

I think the 7mm-08 is an under appreciated cartridge. This buck was taken with one in the southern Black Hills.[IMG][IMG]

My nephew shot it last year and it is now ready to be picked up from the taxidermist. Will ask him to get a measurement.

Glad you nailed that varmit. Looks like he suffered before he died. GOOD! Coyotes have learned the hard way to avoid my kitties.

Truly a trophy! The 7mm-o8 is an excellent cartridge. I like the 280 Rem. which essentially is a 7mm-o6. Pairing the 7mm bore and a 30-06/308 size cartridge is a marriage made in heaven for medium calibers. Velocities approach that of a 7mm magnum with 2/3 the powder and associated kick and noise. And you get the ballistic advantages of the 7mm bore! An ideal western flat shooting package!

I have no trouble whacking coyotes, raccoons or any other predator, especially if they are killing my pets, but no animal deserves to suffer before he dies!

I like the 7mm-08, that is what my dad shoots. The ballistics are really good. Nice mule deer as well. Great eye guards, usually not that big, and splits on the ends of the g2 and g3. Just beautiful!

Congrats on the harvests and that is truly a great muley! I am liking the love the 7mm-08 is getting. Not a common cartridge in these parts but I have been doing some research on the 7mm-08 for deer for the past several months and scored a great Black Friday deal on a Savage 11 lightweight hunter . I'm a big guy and have almost always shot 30-06, and .270. This 5.5 lb rifle with almost no recoil (relatively speaking) is going to feel like a BB gun in my hands next fall. As if I didn't need a reason to be more excited about next years hunting season.:D

First rifle I ever bought (back in 1990) was an original Remington Model 7 in 7mm-08. Have killed 14-15 deer with it-all I ever needed, but can't help buying other rifles!

Nice rifle and deer! Better watch that Gal carefully or she will take over the bragging rights in the family!

I'm guessing she likes that Ruger American just fine. Picked one up in .223 the other day-wanted one for cheap practice shooting. Shot a box of ammo sighting today. I think I am going to like it.
