I stopped to get a few groceries this afternoon and saw this truck sitting in the car park. I did not think to take a close up of the wood; if it is there when I go out again I will get a photo of the wood they are selling.
I didn't notice any pine but will take a better look if it is still there tomorrow. The wood was not green; not sure how seasoned unless split a section and meter it.
There was also a big truck with no price; how much wood is in this truck and what would be a fair price?
Queen? She ain't been elected yet.... No- as you know, different woods have their own distinct aromas.... Pine is obvious, as well as Oak.... Hickory has a strong smell. Maple is subtle, etc.....
Judging by the lack of grey splits in both photos, methinks that stuff isn't much better than what you have already Take your MM if you are going to buy. Now if you just wanna smell his wood, well....tools are optional I 'spose. Take whatcha want to
If the wood is not exposed to weathering; it doesn't necessarily grey out does it? I would be splitting a lot of it again. For the big truck, what is the estimate of the amount of wood and what would be a fair price? It appears to be mixed species.
Going to be busy days; I have to tear my engine down; removing the lower intake; and then put it all back together. Plus cut and split and stack wood. Plus run my business. And there is the possibility of a hurricane blowing through here.
I'd be shocked if they stored it indoors. Hence my comment. You can also tell it's wet by the lack of checking on the end grain (the few I can see on my phone anyway). For the flatbed my wag is about 2/3 cord. In my area that would cost $150 or so.
Looks like hardwood? How long would it take you to burn through a pickup load like the first pic? I mean, once the wood is ready (good and dry) to be burnt? Then weigh out the expense ($60) against a non-wood type of heat-I think you have only electric? How long would it take you to "burn up" $60 worth of electric heat? Use that as a reference of a good deal or not. (Don't compare it's cost to other parts of the nation.) I'm thinking it'll be a good deal for you. Maybe even offer the seller $50 just to see if they would accept or not. Then I assume they deliver also?
I would guess close to a cord there...just slightly less. Not sure what species they have there exactly...maybe see some Maple in there? Looks freshly split to me too...
I agree, bring your MM, and smell the wood as well as pick it up, the unseasoned stuff is heavier. Personally I can only identify Pine, Cottonwood, and Aspen and Apple by smell, but I am guessing you know more like Oak and Hickory being from the east coast? Let us know what you decide And ya guys, you are right, there is another one that some gals like
