The article I read was based on statement from Robert Linkletter, the owner. The damage estimates were a lot lower than what the fire chief stated in this article. Unfortunately I was unable to locate the article I read otherwise I would have posted it.
Looks like it was caused by a bearing failure Fire at Athens pellet mill halts production for a day - Central Maine Maybe some safety switches like the ones used in a pellet stove may be needed here?
In my mind, there is quite a difference between "it blew out five of the walls near the elevator" and "There was a couple of bent pieces of steel, nothing serious". Were those 2 articles even about the same fire?
Maybe they were taking down those walls before the fire? The fireman saw it a different way? Is that like our good worker Joe and his boss that view the same things differently? Joe said "I work just barely hard enough so I do not get laid off!" Joe's boss said "I pay Joe just barely enough so Joe does not quit!" LOL
Seems like a lot of "NEWS" these days comes from what the "reporters" see on Fbook or hear on the scanner ...........
I've been busy with power plant construction and haven't been reading forums. We have a damaged bucket elevator but it's not a big deal. I have some people working on it while I continue with the construction.
