    Hi,
I am rather short with a 26" inseam and most of the protective chaps I have seen are for much taller people.
Does anyone know where I could find some short ones?

I have seven cords ready for the winter but I am not sure if thats enough since this is the first year for our fireplace. Also a lot of it is box elder so I am not sure how much heat it will give. I am lucky to have five acres of woods so it's "free".

**IMPORTANT NOTICE!** Sizing - Chap length is not the same as your pants length. It is not measured by your Inseam. Chaps are sized by overall length. To calculate your overall length measure from your waist (where you would wear your belt) to the top of your foot or your instep

Good catch. They have a lot of different sizes on there, I think you will find what you need.

The Husqy ones are what I have and they will be much too long. They are a good length for me, but I'm average height... 5'10" and usually wear 34" inseam pants.

Stihl has short ones. They have several sizes and the "S" is pretty short. I bought a set for a guy that worked for me, he was maybe 5' 5" and they fit him well.

7 cords is a good amount for a year, but depends on what you have for a fireplace and quality of wood.

Box Elder will provide heat, but won't supply long burns. So in that aspect you might go through more wood than normal.

    7 true cords? 4'x4'x8' dimensions

Good luck and welcome to FHC!

I had 2 choices at the chaps store (Labonville in Farmington) when I bought em, so I know they do make shorter ones. I bought the short ones (they stop half way between my knees and feet) so I wasn't gonna trip on em. They work fine and look just funny enough to match the rest of my hoardin wardrobe. Got em just the way I like em now too... all grunged up and dirty... ;)

    Welcome to FHC.

Forester makes a small for shorter people. I have a 28"-30" inseam (regular pants) and their Small fits pretty well.

    Hey there,
Thanks for all the answers. Labonville is a great site.

It is 7 full cords, plus I am still cutting and splitting. The wood I have so far is just the box elder that was in the way along with anything that was on the ground but still good enough to burn. I also got a few leaners and snags were some good size. The acres around my house haven't been managed at all and have oak, hickory, elm, lots of cherry, a few cottonwoods, black locust and of course the box elder.

We replaced an ugly gas fireplace with a high efficiency wood burner last Feb. It is in our main living room and we ran ducts to our bedroom and basement. We had an extremely cold winter and I used exactly zero gas for heating after feb 1, so I am very happy with the unit. Since I haven't gone through a full season though I am not sure what a full year will take.

I love this site and am glad to see there are other fanatics out there as well. One question I do have though is how do you list your equipment along with the signature?

    Thanks everybody.

You just type it in as part of your signature. If you want colours like some of the guys have, use bbcode.
