It’s 400 acres of Oaks, and there are a ton of log piles due to the heavy snow last year. I have been inviting a few friends to help (she wants it gone, but doesn’t want random folks out there cutting wood)

Anyways here’s some pictures. I leave my splitter out there now, I can cut and split a bunch and then just go load up the splits.

It is a beautiful area, and that is the view when you are pulling out and locking her last gate. I love it.

Good position to be in and a lot of nice oak. Happy hoarding.

This is the first year I brought my splitter down. Been cutting for a few years here. Such a blessing. Its about 50 miles round trip for me. I leave the splitter in her garage, and tow a trailer. I store wood to sell another 10 miles north of my place. So each trip to cut and store is 70miles. I am able to sell for $250-$300 a cord, so it’s totally worth it.

Edit- the first pic is log pile 1. It was cut up and the remains are in the back of picture 2. Pic two shows log pile 2, which I completed yesterday, second to last picture. Log pile 3 no pics, all cut. Pile 4 is the next. Only about 4 more at least!

Around cottonwood? My friends property looks like that from all the snow last year. To long of a drive for wood though so my main wood is fir and spruce.

70 miles isn't bad, I'm guessing you don't have to drive through any big cities. What a great woodlot to have access to! Great way to make some extra cash, I hope you keep some wood for yourself.

I always like the pics people post that show the area they're working in, it's amazing the variety and beauty of this country. When i first glanced at the pics, i thought it looked like you should be on safari! What kind of oak is that? Are most of the standing trees oak as well? I also find it interesting to see the difference in trees across the country, ie the difference in that oak compared to the oak here in va.

You got it. Out off Bowman. I live in East Redding. You from the area?

The property has a good mix of flat firlds, dense forest, and is on two creeks. Some huge 50” white oaks, a ton of live oaks, quite a few digger pines, and manzanita.

I have a few friends that live off bowman. I lived in Redding for about 6 years. I’m in fortuna now. I miss the oaks. We still get to cut a few over here but it’s faster and easier to get a lot of wood out of a fir rather than picking through to get oak or madrone
