I finally installed a 35i with a zero clearance box, stub kit ect with the help of the install crew where i work. This is now direct vented with air.

This replaces an old Englander free standing that vented into an air cooled fireplace.

Got it at cost plus 30% employee perk.

I'll get a custom surround from our local metal fab shop. Turned out great!

My original Englander vented into the air cooled chimney about 6 feet- did its job but not ideal. This insert is direct vented out the back of the house.

The outside air is in the direct vent system, draws in at the upper hood in the picture. It's 6ft+ high

This morning had 5" snow.... already melted

Very nice, I'm sure you will be happy with it.

That is a cool setup for the OAK, never seen one like that before.

yup.....now be prepared for Dos Equis to call you and put you in their ads........women (or men, dont know what you prefer), will constantly now accost you, asking if you are "available", long-lost relatives and old friends from kindergarten, who you have forgotten, will hit you up for advice and counsel, and People Magazine will likely be calling you for an exclusive interview as a precursor to making to the sexiest man alive for 2021! Get ready!

Oh, I have seen them, but never in person. Something about being $100 more than the pass thru I have being an issue at the time.

What size is the opening for the OAK - 3"?

Mine is 2" and I would prefer the larger. Hmm, now you got me thinking that maybe, since I'm not stretching pennies, that I should be looking at changing up.
