Decided I would prep for the blizzard we aren't getting, lol. O well at least there is another 1-2 weeks worth of wood on the hearth and I got it done before the ground unfroze.

I've really stayed on top of having a large supply of wood in the house this winter. I know some do not like keeping a lot of wood in the house due to bugs and whatnot. But, it really makes things a lot easier when I have all three stoves going and I have enough wood for three days.

I'll gladly put up with bugs, bark, whatever to have wood near the stove. And the really cold logs are harder to light too.

I like having wood sitting in on the hearth. I start to panic when there is only one row left on the hearth.

I agree it seems light off much quicker when it is warm also.

The worst is when I'm too tired at night to motivate myself to bring in more wood and I wake up to no wood in the house.

Right where I want to be.
I start building up the overnight and morning supply in the afternoon. Every trip out with the dog/s, I grab a few splits.
One last trip before bed, and I have the morning load already sitting there when I get up. It's a good sytem.
Again, it's easier for those of us who are retired.
I'm glad I'm not trying to do all this and work outside the home as well. I'd be exhausted.
Cert, must be a fairly tight house if that lasts almost 2 weeks. I'd go through each of those rows in a day or maybe a little more. What's in each row, about 30 splits or so?

I easily get a week out of that even if the temps arent real mild. When the outdoor temps get down where our it is below 0 at night and the high is in the low teens I can burn it all in about 5-6 days. When the temps are above 30 during the day and it doesnt dip real low at night I can stretch that 10-14 days.

Going out in cold for wood IMHO is way worse after leaving a warm cozy bed. That said, yep, done it many times

I have about 1/3 cord on the covered entryway...But if I need to fire the stove in the early am and there's no wood in the house then I will let the furnace run....But so far there is always wood next to the stove in the wood box...:)

Great looking room and stove, Cert!! I love the look of that wood beside it!

My indoor wood rack (which will hold almost two weeks worth) is empty!! I just got home from scout camp where we had the annual winter Klondike Derby and there is over a foot of snow up on that mountain, we are WHOOPED! So I'll be getting up bright and early tomorrow to load up the wood rack ahead of the storm.

Almost got my snowmobile finished too.....hoping to get her in the snow tomorrow! They're calling for 4-12" here, all hinging on the temps.....

Close, it is a Jack Russell with ears that stick up. His ears drive me nuts but he is a great dog.

Sounds like a fun time with the scouts. I wish we were getting snow but it is just rain for us.

    Yep.
I had wood in the house this am from last night's excursion, but we went out this morning and grabbed a few more splits for the afternoon load.
I like to at least think I'm a step ahead.
