Before moving to the mountains of NC, I lived in a long leaf pine forest, Pinehurst, NC. A 100 ft long leaf pine on my property was struck by lighting and slowly died over a few years. The slow dieing process caused the entire tree to form into fatwood. I had like a cord of fatwood. Gave a lot away when I moved but kept almost a face cord of the fattest pieces.

9 pounds. I'm hoping for about 13. I will bump up the temp (to 270) during the stall.

Hi John Harris, I lived in Aberdeen from 83-92.
Why did you leave the Golf capital?

I did a 10 lb last week. I bumped up to 275 during the stall and it still took 16 hrs to get it to temp. Good luck & let us know how it came out.

Many reasons, but here are a few. We lived on a horse farm and someone wanted to purchase for way more than we had in it. I didn't want to have a mortgage anymore. I Don't golf. Got sick of the hot/humid summers and having to run the AC for most of the year. Got sick of mosquitos and fireants. Population was getting to high. We loved the mountains of NC, particularly the Boone area. Se we sold the horse farm for a profit. Found a quite 35 acre piece of land in a quite holler on a dead end gravel road. It is 3500 feet in altitude. Do not need AC. It has a pond and 2 creeks. The neighbors are great. It is in the middle of nowhere. Taxes are low. It has fiber optic internet, so I can work from home. It has at least 30 acres of hardwoods... The best of all, this is the view from my front porch. sunsetfromporch.JPG

The pines, needles and sand do feel like they constantly radiate heat. Golf wasn’t for me either. Your new view is prettier than any of the horse farms I saw on Ft Bragg RD.
