Oh why do I look at these cooking threads just before bedtime. That looks awesome! Nothing like homemade pizza with lots and lots of cheese!

I just took out of the (sigh) electric oven, a plum cobbler and a cookie sheet of unleavened bread.

    Was it unleavened on purpose?

Oh, yes. Campinspecter really likes it and without the yeast, it is actually better for you. It is just whole wheat flour, salt, and oatmeal mixed with oil and water and baked until lightly brown. Crackers without the baking soda. Do you want the recipe?

2 cups whole wheat flour, 1/2 cup white flour, 1 cup oatmeal (run it through the blender to make it finer), 1 1/2 tsp. salt, 2 tbsp brown sugar mixed together. Mix 6 tbsp. oil (I use olive oil) in 2/3 cup cold water with a fork. Mix it all together and then roll out thin (about 1/4") to fit in a baking sheet. Score it so it will be even pieces when you break it up after baking. Bake in a 350 F oven until lightly brown. Longer if you want it crisper. Probably could cook this on the top of the stove. (carefully)

No idea, I have been trying to come up with a way to cook everything on the stove. I had no idea I was doing a pizza on it until about 20 mins before I starter mixing up the dough.

Went back and looked at what I made last night. 1/4" might be a little too thick. You might also need to add a little more water (a tbsp or 2) if the dough seems too dry to stick together.

Dutch oven pizza...IN the stove...that sounds good. Chicago style...sauce on top. Go forth and make pizza.

Not every night is pizza night! Next will probably be my fruitcake inside the oven.

I was just going to show off my pizza in a new thread, I'll just add in here. The iron skillet makes a good crispy deep dish. I need to get one of those campfire grills to set the pan on next time, get more hot air around it. Some of my Chicago deep dish pizzas .

that's a cool way to make pizza, wouldn't have thought of using a skillet to turn it into a dutch oven. I like that.

The insert is the oven, the high heat of the coals cook a pizza in 10 minutes. Well seasoned iron skillet is best for deep dish, and any other pizza works good too.

I have a Dutch oven on the way that I can sit the coals directly in the lid. Question will be if it fits in the stove

If it wont fit in the stove I guess youll just have to make a keyhole pit and cook outside Scotty style which is a lot of fun we had a couple dutch ovens when I was a kid and always took them camping we cooked all kinds of things in them from stews to pizzas and of course cobblers:drool:

I got a nice big lodge Dutch oven, that thing barely fits in the electric stove.
