There is a review on AS that has four or five opinions on the timber ridge chains being decent quality. I have never heard of timber ridge products, before seeing this post a few minutes ago.
I’m just worried about quality. I’ve tried other less expensive chain and to me most was a waste of money.
Seems Timber Ridge and Sunbelt Outdoors are the same company. Also seems John Deere just aquired Sunbelt.
I tried cheaper chains to see what I thought, as they weren't much money. They cut ok, but dont stay sharp too long. They stretch like crazy when new too! The one on my saw right now, I put it on and tightened it, ran it for 2 minutes and had to readjust. A minute or two later it actually slung the chain off the bar it was so loose.
I normally run Stihl chain, as they are pre-stretched, I believe. I do have 2 Oregon chains which are a close second. I have one Husky brand chain, does ok, stretched a good bit, seemed to run hotter in the bar. I prefer the slots or dimples on driver links on the Stihl and Oregon chains to hold oil better. That being said, I found a deal on 5 Husky chains, 84 drivers, just over $12 a loop. Haven't bought yet. Also found a good price on Archer brand chain...anybody tried it yet?
